Epsom Hospital Radio has two studios and a production office. Here is a brief explaination of them both.
Studio 1 is our main broadcast studio, the studio where our live programmes all come from. It features an Alice Soundtech Series A Broadcast desk, and a Noahs Ark of equipment with two Microphones, CD Players, Minidisc Players, and Turntables.
The studio has a screen, and four channels on the desk for using the Myriad playout software which we use for jingles and playing out music. It also features a Telephone balancing unit for taking phones calls straight to air and a feed of the output of Studio 2, the off air 24 hour feed, a feed of Sky News, and three ports to plug in a laptop / MP3 player and an additional microphone.
The other screen in the studio is linked to our production area, more on this later.
Studio 2 features a mixture of different equipment to voice track programmes to go out when a presenter is not available to do a programme live, present a live programme should we need to do engineering work on studio 1, or do interviews in around our interview table.
This studio features 1 main presenter microphone, four interview microphones, two CD players and a screen with four channels on the desk for using the Myriad playout software.
The Myriad screen also has access to the production screen via VNC.
This area is also where we hold open evenings for prospective new members before taking them up to the wards, and show them the two studios.
The production area is, well, just that, and area to mull through ideas and research information for programmes.
At the moment, there is only one PC in the production office, the screen however is duplicated so that a producer can type information onto the screen which the presenter can then read out from the studio, The presenter also has the ability to type things onto this computer from the studio.
