One of the faders on our mixing desk. The broadcast studio we use today was built in 2001 using professional quality equipment it has stood the test of time well.

In 2010, the studio was treated to a fairly major upgrade, which was carried out by the current engineering team, with computers becoming an ever increasing part of radio broadcasting, we purchased the Myriad playout system which is now operating in our studio, this occupies four faders on our Alice Soundtech Series A mixing desk and is one of a few changes that were made to modernise the studio and improve our output to the patients.

All of the equipment in the studio is remote start, computers included, which means that when you want to start a song or a jingle playing, you press a button on the mixing desk and the appropiate piece of equipment fires into action.

One of the benefits to having the Myriad computer playout system is that is now even easier to play your requests, rather than having to sift through hundreds of CDs and records, most of our music is now a few clicks away from your ears, request a song to see for yourself!

Studio 2

Studio 2 was born out of the idea of a studio which can primarily be used for voice tracking programmes, but can additionally be used for other uses to.

Our second studio can now be used to voice track programmes when the main studio is in use, it is also connected to the desk in studio 1 and can be used as a broadcast studio and will be used as an interview room when we have the funds to put that in place.

This desk also features an Alice Soundtech Series A mixing desk which is configured as follows:

The Next Step...

Our future plans for expansion include kitting out studio 2 to be also used as an interview room, we have aquired a second hand interview table which needs considerable refurbishment, we will also need to purchase some interview microphone mics, ideally some Beyer M201's, Shure SM57 or other good quality directional microphones.

We do also have some other equipment which is aging and could do with replacing within the next five years.
