What's your favourite genre of music?
Someone I worked with once referred to me as “a sad old rocker.” Which he found quite amusing until I reminded him the acronym for his station was “Keep it Simple Stupid!” I first started listening to music towards the end of the 60s and lived through the era of disco (70s/80s) so I enjoy good dance tracks too. Having two teenagers’ means I had to take interest in the 90's and my involvement in Epsom Hospital Radio keeps it up to date. It means my show covers a wide spread of music from the 60's to the current day.
What do I dislike? Opera, Country and Western, house, garage and all that (c)rap.
When you're not at Epsom Hospital Radio, what are you doing?
During the day I work as a private hire driver for company in Sutton.
Sport - involved with Sutton High F.C. since the middle of the 80's (Surrey Combination and Morden Leagues) first as Assistant Secretary, now as Club Secretary. I play for Sunday Vets team, although for 10 years I was player/manager for the equivalent Saturday team.
Hobbies - model railways. Built layout in my loft based loosely on Oxford, which locates it firmly in First Great Western territory. Powered by diesels and DMUS with the occasional ''preserved'' steam engine. Never have problems with ''leaves on the line'' or ''the wrong type of snow/rain'' and my customer satisfaction level is 100%!
If you had £1,000,000 to spend on yourself and no-one else what would you spend it on?
Well, I guess a new house would be first, then a chauffer and an expensive car!
What is your ideal holiday destination?
Somewhere nice and quiet with very little traffic and some sunshine.
What is your favourite film?
I'm not a great film lover, but I've always enjoyed "Escape to Victory". Who was Sylvester Stallone's goalkeeping coach and can he teach me to save penalties like that?
What is your favourite TV programme?
I quite enjoy watching things like DIY SOS and the property related programmes, as well as the sports programmes too. I walk away from ''reality TV'' shows - things like X Factor, Big Brother drive me mad.
Who is your favourite comedian?
I have always liked ''The Two Ronnies'' - the Hardware Shop sketch still has me in stitches even now.
Who is your favourite sports team/star?
My football team is West Ham and has been since the early 70's. At that stage everyone else at school followed Chelsea, Palace or Spurs and I wanted to be different. Just think - I could have been an Arsenal fan instead!
My sporting hero in my early days was Gordon Banks, although my eccentric goalkeeping earned me the nickname of ''Sepp'' after a West German international during the70's. I also got the nickname ''Bruce'' after Grobelaar when I played for a team that had 3 Ians.
What is your favourite drink?
London Pride or Black Sheep in preference, although any reasonable ale will do. Don't ever buy me a Carling or a Carlsberg or you might have to drink it yourself.
What is your favourite food?
Anything that's not burnt! I enjoy most meats apart from lamb and beef and most vegetables apart from spinach and peas. If I was eating out, I'd look for either a Greek or Italian restaurant.
What inspires you?
The need to provide for my family and the desire to enjoy what I do.
Middle name?
That's covered by the hospital code of confidentiality!
Star sign?
Scorpio, although I'm on the cusp with Libra.
Weird & wonderful talents?
Nothing unusual - I'm just an ordinary guy.
Most treasured belongings?
My collection of football medals, especially the winners ones - and there aren't many of them!
Favourite smell?
Used to be hot asphalt when I did building management. These days fresh air and the countryside is nice.
